Pastor George was ordained as a Lutheran pastor on December 10, 1977 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley, Colorado.  Prior to coming to St. Paul's, he served the LORD as Senior Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Casper, Wyoming; Concordia Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Trinity Lutheran Church in /files/My Sample Gallery/img_4393_Resized_136x183.jpgUtica, Michigan and Pinnacle Lutheran Church in Rochester, New York.

In 1999, Pastor George helped start a mission congregation on Grand Cayman Island.  He served on their board and has occasionally provided pulpit assistance.

In 2000, Pastor George was elected to the LCMS Foundation Board of Trustees.  For the past four years he has served as Board Chairman.

Throughout his career he has served on various District boards and committees, including one term as a circuit counselor.  Pastor George is also a member of the Lutheran Association of Larger Churches.

In his spare time he enjoys playing golf.  He has been married to his lovely wife, Julie, for 39 years and they have 3 grown children.

Rev. Dr. John B. Warther, Associate Pastor
jwarther@stpauls-lutheran.org

/files/My Sample Gallery/id000144.jpgPastor John serves as Associate Pastor at St. Paul's.  After receiving his undergraduate degree in business, he worked six years at Washington, D.C. as an accountant and Systems Administer for a local company.  While serving in various church offices at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, he felt that God was calling him to become a pastor.

After four years of seminary study at Concordia Seminary, Pastor John was ordained as pastor within the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and his first call was to St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Elizabeth, N.J, where he served for ten years.  During this time, he received a Doctor of Ministry Degree at Drew University at Madison, N.J. and served in several New Jersey District positions for the church-at-large.

When St. Paul's called Pastor John as Associate Pastor in the spring of 1998, he accepted the call and moved with his family ready to take on new challenges and build up God's people at Glen Burnie and the surrounding communities.

Pastor John and his wife of almost 20 years, Edie, have two children, one in High School and one in college at the University of Maryland in College Park.

CHURCH GOVERNANCE
Church Governance at St. Paul's is comprised of the Executive Council, Discipleship and Pastoral Care Ministries.  Members are elected by the congregation to serve on these committees and hold specific positions and functions.

Executive Council
The Executive Council (EC) is comprised of six elected members who hold the following positions and have voting priveleges.  President; Vice-President; Treasurer; Secretary; Vice President of Finance; and Vice-President of Facilities.  Each elected member serves as an integral and contributing member to discussions held and matters addressed during the conduct of EC business.  The Senior Pastor and School Principal attend EC meetings and serve as advisory members to the Council.

All EC members are responsible for working together to support the day-to-day operations of the church and school.  In addition to these duties, however, each position fills specific roles as described further on our Church Governance page.
