THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. MATTHEW
From which New Testament book do we have the oldest fragments? Which New Testament book stresses the inclusion of Gentiles in God's plan of salvation? Which New Testament book goes to great lengths to show that Jesus is the New Israel? Which New Testament Gospel was originally written in Hebrew? If you answered, "The Gospel According to St. Matthew!", you are correct!
The name "Matthew" means "gift of God." Truly this wonderful Gospel lives up to its name of Matthew. This Gospel is a gift of God in the world.
All twenty-eight chapters are packed with messages for us today. Matthew's words are not time sensitive, rather they apply to one generation after the next. His work is alive, life giving, and holds the key to eternal life.
Did you know that the Gospel of Matthew is the only book in the Bible that teaches us all six chief parts of the Christian faith? It is a great catechism tool for it teaches us the Commandments, the Trinity (the Creed), the Lord's Prayer, Confession and Absolution, Baptism, and the Lord's Supper.
Come and learn how this book is so relevant to you and your life today. Bring your Bible and a friend! If you miss a session, these classes are also offered on our website!
Day: Thursday
Time: 7:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.
Location: Friendship Hall (Low Ceiling Area)
Teacher: Senior Pastor George Black
